At home in the
Tombstones
Harreson Tanner snapped these photos of me up in the Tombstones. I admit I'm almost
obnoxiously content painting away up there. Or whiling away the time with Dorothy L. Sayers in
the hammock.
Here I'm painting from the back of my
truck. You can see my picnic hamper of
food, and the jug of solvent - my old
radiator needs topping up from time to
time.
This approach to painting means that
if it suddenly starts to rain - as it often
does in the mountains - I can turtle
back into my truck shell with my
painting and keep on working.
That's the north branch of the Klondike
river in the background. You can drink
that water just as it is.
What can I say. Sometimes it's a
pretty stressful life being an artist, but
this obviously isn't one of those times.

actually did paint when I got out of
that hammock.
